In this video, IFBB Pro and team BPI athlete Regan Grimes shares a simple, yet effective, technique to eliminate all shoulder engagement while performing machine pec dec flys.

Regan will always either start or finish his chest workouts with the machine pec dec fly.

To eliminate shoulder engagement during the machine pec dec fly, simply enter the machine, retract your shoulders, turn your elbows up slightly, and squeeze the chest to bring the handles together.

The more you turn your elbows in, the more you force the chest to contract during the exercise. At the top of the movement, you should feel the pressure of the weight in your pinky fingers and a deep contraction of the chest.

Give this technique a shot and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below!
