Last week, IFBB pro and Scitec athlete Cedric McMillan dropped by the Muscle & Strength HQ to share some of his training tips with us.
Most of the tips he shared with us are ones he has currently implemented into his own training to prepare for the 2017 Mr. Olympia contest.
In this video, Cedric shows us how he prefers to perform cable crossovers to better target the chest.
Cedric likes to make sure he keeps his chest in front of his shoulders when performing cable crossovers. If your shoulders are even or in front of your chest, you’ll end up working your shoulders more during the movement.
While a lot of lifters perform crossovers bent over, Cedric does them standing straight up. He also brings the pulleys down to shoulder level height prior to starting the exercise. This allows an easier transition into the starting position, especially if you plan on using heavy weight.
Cedric then contracts his pecs and brings the pulleys together underneath his chest. Perform this exercise slowly and hold both the contraction and the stretch.
Give Cedric’s tips for the crossover a try on your next chest day and let us know what you think in the comments below.
