Last week, the M&S media team traveled to Boise, ID and met up with Kaged Muscle CEO Kris Gethin.
While at one of his favorite home gyms, Kris showed us some of the unique exercise variations he has developed over the years he’s spent in the gym.
In this video, Kris covers 3 tricep exercises he likes to use to isolate his tris.
You thought the leg extension could only be used to target the legs, didn’t you? Well Kris proves us wrong with this first unique tricep variation.
Start off by kneeling in front of the leg extension and selecting a weight that feels comfortable. The rep range used for this movement will be on the higher end.
Place your hands on the machine’s pad and press/extend the triceps down close to lock out. Try to avoid using your chest at all to move the weight.
Next up, Kris heads to the assisted pullup machine. But instead of performing pullups, he turns the machine into another tool to isolate the triceps.
To set up for this exercise, place your hands on the machine’s pad slightly inside shoulder width apart. Keeping your hands flat, lean forward slightly, stabilize yourself, and pushdown.
This exercise simulates a similar movement as the close grip decline bench press. Keep the rep range for this exercise around 20 reps and perform 3-5 working sets.
The third and final exercise Kris covers is the machine close grip press. This is another one of his non-traditional movements.
To set up for it, grab a pole, use your feet to press the weight up, place the pole securely in between the machine’s handles, and with a close grip begin to press.
Go slightly heavier on this exercise and aim to do 10-12 reps per set.
