What's your biggest accomplishment?
First place in my class and also the overall in my first two bodybuilding shows ever. Also going to Jr. USAs at age 19 to try to become the youngest IFBB pro in history!
What is your athletic background, and how did you get involved with muscle building, and what do you love most and least about it?
Well I have always liked being active since a very young age, I played all sports while growing up. I have always admired the guys I saw in muscle magazines and was absolutely amazed, so as I reached my teens I got more and more into working out, I saw my body changing right in front of my eyes and loved it!
Each day, each week, each month, each year I got more and more serious with my training and diet and it became my life. When you’re in high school and college the usual norm would be to go out and get wasted on a Friday and Saturday night. I was the one in the gym those nights because the last thing I would be doing in the next 5-10 years is sitting at a desk with some job that I hate.
I wanted to be different, I wanted to be that guy the younger Cole admired, that motivated people and lived life to the absolute fullest.
What are your future goals, dreams and plans?
In the future I plan to keep on training and living this lifestyle until I’m 6 feet under the ground. Whether it’s training myself or helping others with theirs I will be more than happy to do so. I would really love to see the bodybuilding/fitness industry go way more mainstream than it is. In turn, that would help change the minds of those we consider “outsiders” that don’t quite understand it yet to better understand it and realize that living a healthy and active lifestyle is just an amazing way to live!
What are some of the most common mistakes made when someone is trying to build muscle and/or get ripped?
I would say the most common mistake is the first question I’m usually presented with. We all know it too, “Hey bro I want to start working out, getting ripped, etc so what supplements should I take?” Before anyone even thinks about walking into a nutrition store and dropping 200 bucks on some powders you need to get your diet straight as well as training. None of these supplements you see in magazines, on shelves, etc. will do their job if you’re chowing down pizza, cookies and Coke day in and day out.
What are your best tips for getting ripped and shredded abs?
What advanced training techniques work well for you?
Supersets and slow negatives! Packing on size and really bringing out the different muscle groups for me comes from how much blood I can fill that certain muscle group that I’m training with...and hey, who doesn’t like that “pump” feeling?!
What does your off-season bulking (eating) plan look like?
Honestly, my “off-season” is whatever I want to eat at whatever time and with my metabolism I’ve been blessed with, that’s a meal about every 15 minutes it seems! On a serious note, my mother raised me on healthy foods like veggies, grilled chicken, steak, sweet potatoes, etc. so for the most part my “off-season” is just as clean as my contest dieting is but just in huge portions.
What are your thoughts of niche diet approaches like the Paleo Diet, Adkins Diet, Keto Runs, the Warrior Diet, Intermittent Fasting, etc.?
I think they are useless and very poorly made honestly. If you want to change YOUR physique then get a diet for YOU, not one that thousands of people do each day.
Workout music – Don’t care, or MP3 player?
First off, music is a MUST. You have to have that mind & muscle connection and the beats that help you get in that zone. I love jamming to deep trance by various artists, all kinds of rock (AC/DC, Testament, White Zombie, Disturbed, Pantera, In Fear & Faith, etc) and also a little bit of southern rap.
What are some of your favorite motivational quotes?
“Remember…mistakes make us human, failures help us grow, hope keeps us going and love is the reason we are alive. So keep learning, loving and living. Never give up on yourself.” – Zyzz
If someone wants to connect with you, where can you be found?

What attracts you to the natural side of sports and competition?
Knowing that I am 100% natural and have attained what I have so far should not only tell me that it’s possible, but also make others realize that attaining such a physique IS possible as well. There’s nothing more satisfying than in the end knowing it was all you.
Even in a non-bodybuilding sense it should tell you something…it should tell you that if you put your mind to something, give it your all and nothing less, then anything is possible.
