What is your fitness background?

Here is my formal introduction/background:

Justin Woltering is a distinguished fitness expert and author. With five certifications and a life long commitment to fitness, Justin is guaranteed to stay on the cutting edge of the industry. He is an experienced fitness consultant who has found a niche helping hardgainers all over the world add on slabs of legit muscle mass!

As a youth, he admired bodybuilding and fitness legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Lee. These figures became an inspiration and played a part in his dedication to the fitness game. This dedication combined with the work ethics, advice and genetics of a bodybuilder father was an undeniable combination. The wisdom from older bodybuilders, the technique of nationally ranked power lifters and a lot of research left him with all the tools necessary for success.

His quest into martial arts began with training in Isshinryu Karate as a youth. Woltering later integrated this style with that of Bruce Lee’s own Jeet Kune Do as well as Muay Thai. He uses these techniques to help create results for clients in mind, body, and spirit. The disciplined gained through martial arts has stemmed out to create success in all avenues of his life.

During his adolescence he was side tracked with a fast paced lifestyle and faced a life threatening illness. Overcoming these obstacles in addition to endless amounts of research in science, physiology and philosophy left him with much insight, and he discovered that life was meant to be lived to its fullest.

With a positive spirit, he currently pursues his passion for the arts, which has translated into success with editorial, commercial, runway and print modeling (book covers, calendars and much more). Justin is thankful everyday to have experienced these opportunities and looks forward to future success.

What do you love most about fitness?

When it comes to the fitness industry I love that there is no set path to obtain success. When it comes to fitness and entertainment, I like the quote, “There is nothing more dangerous than an idea whose time has already expired.” Most people are trying to mimic the careers of others, but it necessary to find your own niche to find true success. It is a new era and it is a time to be innovative!

What were the major milestones that gave you that "extra" motivation boost?

The #1 Milestone is without a doubt getting my book published! However it always feels great to land the cover of a bodybuilding/ fitness magazine!

The feedback that I have gotten from the members on my website is amazing and has been inspiring! I find it exciting to have the opportunity to share with others the knowledge and background that I have spent years learning about. It’s even more satisfying to have the opportunity to pass along something that I am not only passionate about, but also something that has changed my life.

What keeps you motivated?

When ever I take time and listen to myself I know that I am on the right path and that the best things are yet to come. The mind and body want to be better then they ever have before, and I want to give them this opportunity.

Example: Once a day just LET GO, and let your body do what it wants to do. You will often feel a benevolent feeling and want to smile. : )

How important is nutrient timing for performance and/or building muscle?

Nutrient timing is crucial for both performance and building muscle. In my opinion, pre and post workout nutrition are the 2 most important meal of the day. And when I am on a restricted calorie diet in preparation for a photo shoot or acting project I make sure to eat exactly one hour prior to training. I will usually use 40 grams protein, 40 grams carbohydrates and 15 grams of fat, mostly from Omega 3. This timing will allow for a greater growth hormone release while training.

Immediately post workout I will use the same nutrient ratios, except I will add a small amount of simple carbohydrates, usually from fruit. As soon as I get this down the hatch I will drink 5 grams of BCAAs and 5 grams glutamine to improve recovery. This nutrient timing will maximize the hormones in your body that build muscle naturally!

Workout music – Don’t care, or MP3 player?

When it comes to smashing the weights I couldn’t image doing it without my music! It is my therapy and the only time of the day that no one else can !*#% up!

  • Notorious BIG - Sky is the Limit.
  • Kanye West - Feat.
  • Jay Z - H.A.M.
  • Sublime - 40oz to Freedom.
  • Dap-C f., Talib Kweli, Lil Wayne& Royce and Da 5'9" - Ma Money.
  • Korn - Blind.

What are your future goals, dreams and plans?

In the future I will be updating all new content to my site. There will be a daily blog, articles, select video footage from photo shoots, workouts, martial arts training, and acting projects. Not to mention 100's of new photos! Also in high-quality videos, I take you through my own personal workouts, using my knowledge and expertise to describe exactly how to perform each exercise correctly.

Quotes serve as a huge source of inspiration to me. I am a history fanatic so there is no better advice then those who shaped the world we live in today. These quotes have been very helpful to motivating me as well as my clients. “Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw.

“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path." – Buddha.

“If you believe it will work out you will see opportunities.  If you think they won’t then you will see obstacles.” – Jon Alama.
