Weight training workouts get kicked up a notch when you train with an IFBB Pro.
And when you put two of them in the same weight room, you better believe their workout is about to be epic.
Earlier this year, IFBB Physique Pros Brett Kahn and Gerardo Gabriel traveled to the Muscle & Strength Headquarters to get a chest workout in.
As you can imagine, the two shredded individuals put together an insane workout focusing on high volume quality reps.
1. Dumbbell Press
The two start off with dumbbell press to really get a good stretch and promote blood flow into the muscle. Make sure you go nice and slow and really focus on the entire range of motion of the exercise. The first few sets of your chest workouts are crucial to warming up the chest and shoulders in order to avoid injury.
2. Incline Machine Press
The great thing about the Hammer Strength machine is that you can really focus on isolating the muscle while moving some serious weight.
Every workout these IFBB pros perform is done based on how they feel that day. One day you might be stronger than the next day; however, its perseverance and consistency that really builds muscle mass.
Brett showcases a very important point when it comes to weight selection. By picking a weight you can perform 12 solid reps with great form (just before reaching failure), you can really emphasize growth from the muscle.
3. Incline Dumbbell Fly & Close Grip Dumbbell Press Superset
Brett and Gerardo switch up their pace by adding in a superset in the middle of their workout. It's important to rest a little bit longer after a superset in order to recover before the next set. As you perform the close grip dumbbell press, you want to make sure to press in while pressing up. This really targets the inner-pec.
4. Landmine Press
In this unconventiional lift, the guys take a barbell and put it in a landmine holder, pressing up with both hands to focus on the inner upper chest. The key is to not only press up and outward, but also drive the hands together during this exercise. Gerardo emphasizes finding lifts that you enjoy to do and that work well within your program in order to maximize gains.
5. Dumbbell Pullover & Pushup Superset
Finally, the two end their workout with another intense superset. This superset is perfect for finishing off the chest with a great pump and adding detail to the muscle. While the dumbbell pullover does stretch out the lats, the concentric movement really hits the chest. Pair them up with good ole fashion pushups for a great chest day finisher.
