In the midst of shooting some educational videos, Team MHP athlete Chris Bumstead decided to have himself a little party.
A deadlift party to be exact.
Chris starts off with 135lbs on the bar. Chris has gotten to the point where he can jump in 90lb increments. He likes to perform 4-5 sets before getting up to an actual working set.
Chris doesn’t like to bounce the weight. Not only is it cheating to him, but when you bounce the weight, the weight isn’t distributed across the body evenly. So, doing so may lead to muscle imbalances.
When Chris reaches 405lbs he puts on wrist wraps. He’s not really concerned with holding onto the weight and building grip strength. His focus is more on building the muscle groups he’s targeting with the heavy weight.
In the following rounds, Chris puts on a weight belt to help him avoid injury from the heavy working sets.
For his final round, Chris deadlifts an impressive 585lbs for 4 reps.
