Training

Tim MartinWhat is your training philosophy?

On and off season training is the same, the only difference being the amount of cardio done.

What's a good workout routine that has given you results?

  • Monday: Chest and Triceps
  • Tuesday: Legs
  • Wednesday: Shoulders and Biceps
  • Thursday: Back
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Take days off as necessary

If you have to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

1) Incline dumbbell bench press.

2) Deadlift.

3) Leg press or hack squat.

What's the best training tip you could give to others?

Choose the most difficult exercises because these are also the most effective.

Nutrition And Supplementation

What is your philosophy on nutrition?

Eat clean and hit your macronutrient goals each day.

What brands do you think are offering the best products at the moment?

I’m sponsored by Six Star Nutrition so I think the have the best products!  Seriously, their line is good quality at a very affordable price.

Advice For Others

What are the 3 best tips you'd give to someone thinking about competing in natural bodybuilding?

  1. Attend a show to witness the type of physique you’ll be competing against.
  2. Put your time in, there is no substitute for years of hard training and disciplined eating.
  3. Only listen to “experts” if they have achieved a high level of success themselves.

Tim Martin Posing

What is your best advice for looking your best on competition day?

Don’t do anything drastically different during the final week.  Stress plays a big role in how you look on competition day, so controlling your emotions is very important but also very difficult to do.

How do you stay motivated? What advice would you give to someone who's having trouble staying on track?

If staying motivated for bodybuilding is a challenge then the sport probably isn’t for you.

Future Plans

What shows have you got coming up, where can we see you compete?

I just competed in my first IFBB professional contest, so right now I’m going to enjoy the off-season and see how my body responds.

What would you like to achieve in your natural bodybuilding career?

I’ve achieved everything I set out to do in bodybuilding.  If I compete again it is simply to achieve a better overall look versus my previous attempts.

Favorite Competitors/Idols

Who are your favorite bodybuilders and idols?

In the untested arena Kai Greene is my favorite bodybuilder right now.  In the natural arena there are many bodybuilders who’s physiques I admire, but I think at this point I’ve taken it farther than any other drug-free bodybuilder.
