In high school I stayed active playing basketball. My eating habits were poor, but I played enough basketball to stay in decent shape. When I went to college the bad eating habits remained and the activity stopped which led to a great deal of weight gain.
I can remember starting to workout again when I was 20. I never weighed myself at my heaviest, but after 2 months of somewhat consistent working out I still was tipping the scale at over 300lbs. It was a wake up call for me! I became consistent with working out but still had pretty poor nutrition habits.
I moved in with a friend whose major was exercise science and I learned a lot from him and got myself into pretty good shape again. I became so interested in fitness that I changed my major from Nursing and Psychology to Nutrition Exercise and Health Science (NEHS). I graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2008 with degrees in NEHS and Dietetics. While finishing my degree I began personal training at Gold's Gym in Lincoln and continued to work there for several years.
I left Gold's Gym and took a job outside the fitness industry all the while still having a huge passion for health and fitness. Fortunately, Good Life Fitness opened and in 2010 I was offered a position as head personal trainer and nutritionist.
Since 2010 I have developed a love for helping clients prep for competitions and helping clients that just want to lose weight and get in shape (and may never have a desire to compete). I have had the pleasure of coaching many winning clients for bodybuilding, figure, bikini and physique shows. I have also coached 2 Nebraska state record holding powerlifters. I have helped hundreds of people get in the best shape of their lives. I am still dedicated to working out and love to push myself past my comfort zone.
Recently I have started my own online company, Powerfuelfitness.com, in which I offer my services over the web. Power Fuel Fitness offers everything from customized meal plans and training programs to coaching for contest prep. I have also recently teamed up with MuscleFire Clothing Co. to start MuscleFire Supplements. We released our first supplement "PRE" at the Dallas Europa expo on 8/16/13.
