I’m Travis Pollen (AKA the Fitness Pollenator), an in-person and online personal trainer based in Philadelphia, PA. When it comes to fitness, my niche is the science. Thanks to my graduate degree in biomechanics, I’m able to provide readers and clients with a highly scientific approach to training.
But I wasn’t always a scientist. Like most lifters, I started out as an (adaptive) athlete first. Unlike many lifters, though, I was born missing a leg (hence the qualifier, adaptive). Throughout high school and college, I swam competitively. During that time, I broke two Paralympic American Records and even tried out for the U.S. Paralympic team in 2012.
Over the course of my swimming career, I was constantly searching for ways to supplement my training outside the pool – the most productive of which turned out to be lifting weights. When my career finally came to an end, I realized that my true love all along was strength training.
Nowadays, I devote my time to helping aspiring athletes and average Joe’s alike get bigger, faster, and stronger through writing and coaching.
