As a vegan of 10 years, I began powerlifting as a means to debunk the frail, "pushover" stereotype associated with my diet. I started my strength journey at 155 lbs, never having worked out a day in my life. Over the better part of the last decade, I've spent countless hours with different training partners, coaches, and methodologies, all of which have resulted in vast changes to my size and strength.
With a continued mindset of attaining goals despite my diet, drug-free lifestyle, and commitment to teaching, I began researching nutrition and its application to muscular/strength gains. Through ongoing inquiry, I have come to better understand how the things we consume can affect our performance and growth, and by applying these principals to my training and diet I have been able to effectively bulk, cut, and add weight to all of my lifts.
When I'm not teaching High School English or spending time with my fiancee and pets, I am training to compete in Powerlifting. I have been fortunate to be a part of a few very elite gyms, surrounded by world-class, record-holding athletes who have pushed my own training to the next level.
