Alex StewartI started lifting weights in high school to make me stronger for the varsity basketball team. Once I saw how I could change my body with weight lifting, my passion for the hardwood turned to weightlifting. I loved the feeling of pushing my body to its physical limits.

My strong passion to improve my own fitness inspired me to learn as much as I could about training and nutrition. At the age of 18, I decided to become a personal trainer. I obtained my certification as a personal trainer through ISSA. Realizing that training goes hand and hand with nutrition, I earned my certification as a nutritionist through ISSA shortly thereafter.

During college I started to compete in Natural Bodybuilding, lucky enough to win several local shows. During this time I used my knowledge in health and fitness to start an Online Personal Training Business.

My strong passion for health and fitness industry led me into the supplement industry.

Currently, I am the Director of Sales of Betancourt Nutrition and NutriForce Sports as well as Co-Owner with my Wife of Sweet Spreads LLC.

Erik: You don't gain muscle while losing body fat, it goes against laws - can't happen. You can gain lean muscle while keeping body fat (through strict diets) and you can lose body fat while keeping muscle but not at the same time. I'm sure you know this by now but for other people who stumble across.

Hey Alex.
I had a question about your article, 13 Teen Muscle Building Mistakes.
Im 17 and started a program with a split routine monday,tue,thrus and fri with all compound exercises. I have started a strict diet aswell, about 8 meals a day with a good portion of protein, fats and carbs each meal. Is there any advice or tips you could give me to reach my goals. Oh and my goal is to gain muscle and lose body fat. Thanks
