What is burdock and what does it do?
Burdock, also known as Articum lappa, is a scaly, pale green flower bearing plant. It is apart of the thistle group of plants. Burdock plants mature in age can stand anywhere from three to four feet high and flourish in wet, damp environments.
Burdock plants are indigenous to the United States, Europe, and China.
What are the benefits of taking burdock?
Every part of the Burdock plant including the seeds, roots, and leaves contain polyacetylenes, chlorgenic acid, taraxosterol, inulin, lactone, arctigen, tannin, mucilage, potassium, calcium, iron, resin, and essential oils.
Burdock is one of the common ingredients in dietary supplements that aim to detoxify, cleanse, and eliminate the body of pollution and build up of toxins. Burdock causes perspiration and increases bowel movements and fecal elimination. This promotes a fast removal of toxins from the body and overall boosts our health.
While more research is needed, existing science suggests that Burdock promotes system detoxification and supports liver, kidney and bowel health. Burdock may also promote a healthy immune system and efficient immune system response.

Burdock is primarily used in detox supplements, so those looking to detox will benefit from taking burdock. Burdock may also help with weight loss.
How much burdock should I take?
Strictly adhere to label directions on each supplement you take. Burdock is not an essential nutrient, so no recommended daily allowance (RDA) has been set by the FDA.
Does burdock have any side effects?
There are no known side effects of Burdock. Do not take Burdock if you’re taking prescription diuretics and water pills, if you’re allergic to burdock, or your body is sensitive to insulin. If you're unsure, consult your doctor.
