May Diet&Nutrition Question:
My diet seems to be stagnant and I want to add a change, but what can I do?
Answer:
Most fat loss programs reach a plateau. This is called homeostasis which means that the body has a rhythm and will stick to what ever you give it. But the way to shock it is to add a low carb day, do this for one or two days every two or three weeks. Lower your carb intake to 130g of carbs per day. Carbs are used for brain and heart function so it is not recommended that you don’t eat any less than this. When you cut your carbs to this level the body will start to look for other energy sources and this will shock the system to pull it out of its normal rhythm. Once you take the carbs to your normal level the glycogen depleted tissue will pull the carbs into the cells for energy. This will result in a jump in your metabolic rate and put you back on track for fat loss.
