August Supps Question:
What are the benefits of Green Tea in weight loss?
Answer:
Green tea is reportedly said to help in weight loss. It does not raise heart rate or change the energy expenditure in the body like some prescription drugs or herbal ephedra does, nor does it raise blood pressure. So it can be used to lose excess weight naturally and safely.
The influence of green tea on the body lays in the high concentrations of Cateching polyphenols, which in the body work with other chemicals to intensify the levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis. Green tea is also reported to cause sugars from carbohydrates to be released slowly which prevents sharp increases in insulin (high blood sugars, can result in fat storage). The result is fat is burned quicker before storage in the fat cells. There is also reported evidence that green tea's polyphenols (EGCG) helps depressing leptin (a protein produced by fats that plays an important role in how the body manages fat storage through brain signals). Lower leptin levels decrease the appetite. It means that you will get that “full” feeling faster and as a result will consume less food.
