Vitamin B1 is a water-soluble vitamin, involved in the metabolism of branched-chain amino acids; vitamin B1 is needed to process carbohydrates, fat, and protein. The benefits of vitamin B1 help the body cells convert carbohydrates into energy; aids the nervous system, supports nerve health, and minimises numbness and tingling. The dose of this vitamin for adult males is 1.1mg per day, and for adult females 0.8mg per day, Good food sources of B1 are fortified breads, cereals, pasta, whole grains, lean meats, fish, dried beans, peas, and soybeans. A deficiency of B1 can cause loss of appetite, poor digestion, and chronic constipation, loss of weight, mental depression, nervous exhaustion, and insomnia
