Overcrowding definitely. When I hate it when I need a bench and see every single one used, with 2-3 people sharing each bench. 10 min of nothing to do...

I really hate when somebody leaves the machines wet of sweat and the second most is when weights are spread all over the gym and you have go around to find the weights that you are looking for.

Number one for me is people who grab newspapers or magazines to read during their cardio workout...

I really don't understand what they're thinking... If you're going slow enough to be able to read 1/2 a magazine during your "cardio" workout, congratulations, you just accomplished just about nothing! I guess it's their ignorance that upsets me the most, I have a very low tolerance for it. Funny enough, a lot of people seem to do this. I'm usually drenched in sweat after a cardio workout, and you see these little snowflakes going for about 20 min and get off without ever breaking a sweat... why even bother?

Second would be cell phone, although (thank god) it's a lot less frequent. If it's fast and sweet I could care less (I understand business / emergencies, ect), but ever now and then a girl will have a full blown, 15 min conversation while on a cardio machine. That kills me every time and I make sure to say "are you kidding me" loud and proud.

wow..... you need to take some volume or something before you go to the gym dude. you can't read and walk in place at the same time? oh and its really easy to do a hard cardio on a stationary bike while reading a magazine, plus it really helps to pass time. I sometime get annoyed by hearing music when I'm working out.

I think talking on a cellphone is a great idea when running on a treadmill, especially if you don't have someone next to you to talk because it helps to monitor you intensity, if your running to hard that you can't speak or carry on a conversation then you are running to hard for maximum fat burning.

I agree it helps to pass the time, but I just can't see how you can training hard while reading, as I said. If you goal is fat loss, then light training isn't going to cut it unless your goal is very long term (Yrs)

If you're moving at a good pace, and your head will be moving, you can't read well. Walking on a treadmill is great for warm ups and if you need to condition into a work out program, but you're not burning up any calories just walking.. maybe about 200 per 2 miles?

It's just an annoyance, people can do what they want, but I find it funny they think they're being productive. (although any exercise is better then none). Most people are looking for shorter term results, but they have their science all wrong from what I've read. Medium to hard cardio, weight training, and good nutrition is key to losing that 1-2 pounds a week of fat.

As for a cell phone in the gym, I see it much like the movie theater. You're in a public space with a lot of people, and it's quite rude to be yapping away. I really don't want to know about your day, or your drunk friend or your gossip. And when Gym equipment is really close, you're most likely ruining the concentration of the person next to you. I feel as you do with music, use it, but don't have it up so loud as others can hear it. It's really the same thing as talking away on a cell phone...

I also thought the debate on Intensity VS. fat burning zone had long been over? Sure you burn less of a % of fat, but you burn more total fat as you burn more total calories with hard training and HIIT.

I'd have to say overcrowding...

The last week has been absolutely packed and I don't have a clue why... The girl that works there said it's always busy around Christmas but that doesn't make sense to me
