i hate it the most when people jump on the machine im using the instant i go for a drink or decide to walk one lap to keep my heart rate from returning to rest speed between sets.

OR if they decide to jump in, and then they dont put my weight back on.

You're not at World Gym in Shelby Twp are you? We've got one of those guys!

hard to pick just one:

groaning - i find to be laughable
smell / sweat - is annoying but what ever.

Leaving weights on the bars - annoying but i guess its a good break between exercises

standing around talking or worse sitting on a machine and talking /
leaving the weights on the floor or in the wrong spots - pretty much inexcusable IMO.

I hate it when the machine is empty for a really long time, but as soon as its time for me to use it, someone else gets there right before me. ughhh

oh & I get really annoyed when I see people swinging their entire body to get the weight up for bicep curls and when people do their reps way too fast

Got to be chatting.

Some guy had the 30kg bar the other day, sat there talking to his mate while i'm working my way up. Do my 20's, then my 25's, so now i need 30. I figure i can just grab it as he's been chatting for a good 5-10 minutes, so i point at the bar and ask "are you using it?"

Its literally gonna take 1 minute for me to do my set and hand it back, he gets all ****y!

Also not putting the freeweights away, people who warm up infront of a machine and those that walk with in inches of you as you're lifting something heavy.

at the ymca i work out at, there are always little kids that only work their chest and bicep.. my friends even want to do that when they want to work out with me.. i say we are doing back and bicep, after doing like 3 sets of back they decide that they want to bench press or do curls.. i just tell them that they can do that, but im sticking with my routine.. my friends dont come with me anymore

and walking away from a machine for 45 seconds with intent to return to do more sets does not mean " fair game ".. a group of kids my age started taking off my weights when i was 10 feet away from my bench , i told them that i was still using it and they continued to take the weights off.. so i decided that i was going to muscle my way through them and lay back down on the bench and tell them to leave the weights on. it worked.. i never saw those kids again.
