Just over three years straight for me.

I didn't get diet and nutrition in check until the last year or so.
It's made a big difference in how I feel and how my body reacts to training.

I think it is underestimated in a lot of cases.

Learning more here - so thanks to all for sharing!

Too right...makes a huge difference. When i first started training a guy told me that diet is 80% of muscle building...I laughed it off...

I've been training for about a year now, but quickly fell into the beginner trap of alternating chest and arm days and neglecting everything else.

About a month ago I decided to get serious and started from scratch with 15-20 rep circuit workouts, so I suppose the true answer to this question is one month......

And now I'm finished adapting and can start building! YEAH!!!!

I started working out with ankle weights that is use for basketball and other sports. I initially trained my biceps using those ankle weights and did it at night outside our house so nobody can see me. Sometimes I trained with them inside the bathroom while sitting on the toilet bowl. That was in December 1990.

The first time I enrolled in a gym was in April 1992. And I never stopped since then. It's been 18 years now.

Hmm I feel so old. I started working out when I was in high school and have not really stopped. I think that is why being a physical therapist is so natural for me. Well working out well over 5 years more like 25 years.
