Hello.
I'm half Irish and half Scottish in blood, but I have lived in Alabama pretty much all of my life.
I love the Highland games.
I want to compete in them.
I am putting on alot of muscle in the past 1-2 years considering i've learned what I actually need to do to DO that.
Now, to those of you who know what the highland games are, do you have any training workouts or tips?
I'm about 135-140 lb, five foot 8 or 9. I have never really been BULKY but my overall body is beginning to bulk up a bit with muscles.
What do you think I should do to continue this to help with my training?
This is what I plan on starting to do for Highland Games training.
A weight throw. Throwing a 10-30 lb weight as far as possible. 10-20 reps, 2-3 sets.
Tug of weights.
Tying a rope to something heavy and pulling it to you. A hay bale, a tire, etc. 3 sets.
The caper toss.
Using a skinny tree and throwing it in The Caper Toss fashion. Look up Caper Toss to see how it's done. Do it till you can't pick it up anymore.
Weight grip.
Take a weight and grip and hold it with your fingers. Hold 20 sec. 3 sets, 3 reps.
Rock throw.
Throw a lightweight rock as far as possible. Do till warmed up!
Bent over rows.
Lift weight from bent over position. 3 sets. 10-15 reps.
That is basicly what I have planned so far.
Also, biking for cardio is good. Running and walking as well.
Plus, i'm doing a karate class twice a week!

So yeah.
Share your thoghts, tips, or suggestions and ideas please.
Best of blessings upon 'ye.
