To be quite honest, it just looks like fat. They all look fat. If that's not P.C. saying it as i see it, then apologies.

I know of a couple of guys at the gym who are in similar shape. Strength wise they can LIFT. But hearing passing comments by the Barbies, " They're both fat, such a turn off "

I'm fat too so i don't feel bad calling them fat

Danny, I think it's more than fair to say and point out that all these men are carrying higher levels of bodyfat. But, what I have noticed over the years is how you can tell the difference between a 300# man who lifts heavy things and a 300# man who doesn't lift much of anything.

Those guys aren't lean but any stretch of the imagination, but you can look at those arms, shoulders, and legs and tell that they can lift cars.

Thanks for the pic Steve. It looks to me like a bunch of powerful friends hanging at the lake after a workout.

For those who are pointing out that they carry a lot of fat, what's up? who cares?
You missed the point of the pic. (P.S. we know they look fat)

    Just returning honestly with honesty.

I get around to quite a few gyms around the country. Most of the muscular, meaty guys like this (not quite as large, but you get the point) are usually the ones WITH the barbies (your term, so borrowing it) who live in the gym. I've met more than my share.

You do realize that being thin doesn't necessarily mean you are healthier, right? These aren't fat cough potatoes, these are strongmen.

Speaking from experience, my blood pressure and cholesterol was worse when I was leaner. I gained 30+ pounds, my cholesterol is down over 30 points and my BP is consistently low.

No one is saying you should want to look like this.

Well, I won't speak for women, but I've rarely seen a guy big like that with an unattractive wife or GF.

I have a few friends who look like these guys (not quite as big, but similar builds) and, trust me, when we hang on the beach or go and shoot pool, they get props from women and men. People respect mass and strength. And moreso than that, people react to confidence.

So, in the end, build that body you want, but make sure it IS the body you want because it makes you feel good. People can tell when you are pretending.

    Agree with Steve.

Young men have really succumbed to the same body image issues as young women have faced for decades.

Danny-- you are not fat. And, contrary to any Bro Philosophy, the fastest way for you to look leaner isn't to cut given your current look, but rather to bulk and put on about 15 pounds of muscle. Remember that your BF percentage lowers as the amount of muscle you carry increases.

Agree with both, for a more critical word I would use untrained look than fat look, still bulk is your best choice like mc said, just dont think it will be easy gain those 15 pounds, because it is not 15pounds of bodyweight, its 15 pounds of muscle with minimal fat gains and many had tried, I can think in all my friends that at least one time joined a gym and just a few (less than 1 hand) have made same kind of sucess, only if you really want it and really sacrifice things you will made it. Day by day battle.

Ya, because girls like guys BIG and strong!!! It's very "manly"..which is very far from a turnoff, ...and it makes us feel "little" in comparison, and we all want that! And as far as the "shredded" look goes, most girls' initial reaction to seeing a man like that would be "the guy is cocky and in love with himself", which is an immediate turnoff...at least for me.
