    Default Chipotle?

Hey guys I hear kids my age talking about how Chipotle is the only healthy fast food... whats your take? When I go I eat a veggie burrito, and a website that tells you the nutrition facts says that in total, with guacamole, and rice and beans it adds up to over 800 calories... It can't possibly be that much, i mean i guess it could. But anyway, do you guys thing chipotle is an okay meal?

Sure it's better than eating a a couple of big macs. Rice, beans and guacamole are better for you than special sauce and whatever. 800 calories is 800 calories but it's better than alot of fast food out there.

I eat chipolte all the time. My Burrito bowl consists of:

    Chicken
    Rice
    Peppers/onion
    Corn
    The mild sauce
    Lettuce

It tastes awesome and is about 600 cals. When I first looked up how many cals were in their meals I was blown away, I didn't think it would be that much. But you have to bear in mind that the rice is prob loaded with oil (to keep the consistency and taste, the peppers cooked in a lot of oil, the meat grilled - but in a lot of oil etc)

Overall, it's a solid choice as far as "fast" food goes.

Probably one of the better fastfood choices out there.

Not because it's low in calorie, but because it's not loaded with saturated fat like a burger, fries and other fried foods.

Also Chipotle has one of the best environmental friendly policies of any fast food operation. As far as how the animals that become their food are raised, fed, etc.

    I think my usual burrito:

    Chicken
    Corn Salsa
    Rice
    Black Bean
    Lettuce
    Sour Cream
    and
    Cheese

    Clocked in at 910 calories.

Me and my lifting partner have been known to utilize it for PWO nutrition from time to time. Double chicken, guacamole, rice, black beans pico de gallo, cheese FTW!

I worked at chipotle for 2 years, and I would say it's as healthy as you choose it to be. The meat is prepared fresh in store every single day, the chips are fresh everyday, and everything is cooked on the spot before it's served (which is why when something runs out it takes a few minutes to get it ready for the line).

-The only thing I would critique is the sodium. The cilantro lime rice is loaded with salt, every salsa is loaded with it, and the chips are dumped with it as well. Also, a tortilla is about 300 calories and they don't offer whole wheat. YOU CAN ASK FOR PLAIN WHITE RICE INSTEAD OF THE CILANTRO LIME RICE. EVERY STORE HAS IT IN THE BACK OF THE KITCHEN.

Some people would order a burrito and when one of my co-workers would roll the burrito, it sometimes ripped. So they would get a second tortilla and "double-wrap" it. That's 600 calories of just tortilla! My favorite customers were the ones who bragged about "being on a diet" and would get the salad. They would then ask for TONS of cheese, extra sour cream, and guac. So it was ten pieces of lettucs covered in that stuff ha!

I would say the healthiest thing (if your looking for low carb) is the burrito bowl with no rice, extra beans and meat. The chicken and steak are the healthiest followed by the barbacoa and the pork is the fattiest. The reason why the burritos can be so many cals is because people load them with pork, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. That's 4 sources of fat. AND THE TORTILLA ALONE IS 10 GRAMS OF FAT.

I would get a burrito with white rice, chicken, black beans, and pico sauce and it was 720 cals. Not bad, but loaded with sodium.

So overall, it is a healthy choice as long as it fits into your sodium intake, and as long as you don't overdo it with the cheese and sour cream. Just go for guac!

One final thing I want to say, is that chipotle is the cleanest restaurant you will go to. It is cleaned several times a day, and the entire restaurant is disinfected twice a week (walls, closets, etc.). I washed my hands an average of 50 times each time I worked and changed my gloves every time I washed my hands. It's part of their comapany and I really thought that was cool.

Wish we had that in Canada!

We have Edo Japan though, which for fast food is probably as healthy as it gets.

White Rice, Steamed Chicken and Veggies with a bit of Terriyaki sauce.

It's like 15 G of fat, 50 G of protein and like 90 carbs if you eat it all at once haha.

Sucks there isn't any amazingly healthy choices out there when your on the go, but it's good to see there are a few that you can get away with eating once or twice a week.

I've been trying to stay away all fast food places, but it seems this Chipotle seems like a good place to break this.

Is the rice they use white rice? I'm under the impression that white rice is bad for you.

It's generaly clean foods so the average meal of 825 calories isn't as bad as it seems. I wish I liked mexican style foods more.

This is a misconception because white rice is a tad bit more "processed" than the brown rice, it gets a bad rap.

But they both have almost the exact nutritional profile, especially when cooked the same way.

When at chipotle, as for the white rice. They have have it in the back of every chipotle because some people don't like the "cilantro-lime rice." They pour a ton of salt on the cilantro-lime rice which is why people like it so much I assume. But the white rice is just plain with no salt or cilantro

This thread made me decide to give Chipotle another try yesterday. I hadn't had a fun meal in weeks and I enjoyed it. I generaly don't have much of an appetite but the cheese was delicious and guacamole was so fresh I ate the whole burrito. I didn't realize it was so good.

    MMmmmMMmm Chipotle!
Like mentioned briefly before the sodium is the big bad guy at Chipotle. Just watch your sodium intake before and after eating there.
