Default raw bacon, good or bad??

Well I had this argument the other day with my friend when I saw him eating raw bacon. I told him that eating that can't be good for you at all because raw foods aren't that healthy but he told me that since the bacon is processed already and all that that it wasn't bad.
And since we're on the topic of eating raw food how bad is it to eat raw red meat??

what type of bacon is he eating that is processed? real bacon is not processed. not safe.

i eat my steaks rare. as long as you cook the outside of raw beef you are safe, the dangerous bacteria live on the surface of the meat. ground meat is a different story due to it being all mixed together.

Unless if it was actual pork belly then it really wasn't raw. American bacon is usually cured and smoke before the it goes to market. Also as to your reference to all raw foods not being healthy for you that is not always true. Most raw fruits and vegetables are better for you because during the cooking process they loose most of their nutrients. Especially if you boil vegetables most of the vitamins and minerals get transmitted into the water.

I didnīt mean to make it sound like I said all foods are bad. I already knew that raw fruits and vegetables are better than cooked ones because of the reasons you said, but I thought that raw meat was bad no matter what. Like psyche said its only bad if you donīt cook the surface of it.

Often bacon you buy from shops has been pre-cooked. But bacon, like chicken, should always be cooked properly before being eaten. i would personally always cook bacon before eating it. Things like beef and eggs can be eaten raw without any trouble, provided that the products are fresh and so on.
