Default Less Cardio = Weight Loss ?

Ok so most of you know that I am having some problems losing wieght for the past several weeks. I tried a number of things and nothing has worked, I lowered my daily cal intake, increased cardio, less food, etc etc.

The past week or so I have been too busy to do cardio and I have been working out only. I re-calculated my BMR and I decided to go with light excersice 1-3 days a week compared to the moderate 5-6 days I was using before.

Now here is the weird part, I started to lose weight. Is it possbile that doing cardio 3 - 4 times a week could have been contributing to the fact that I was not able to lose weight?

    Weird ....

Thats a good point, I never did try to increase my cal intake, only reduce.

Also could be that the cardio was adding stress if you were doing it for extended periods of time. This could release cortisol, which was keeping your fat...

But I don't reall know, just throwing stuff out there.

I tried both LIT and HIT cardio to see if that would change anything. I would typically do 20 min HIT right after a workout and 45 min LIT on days I didnt workout.

I didnt change my diet just less calories, routine is the same just increased the weight.

Good point, maybe its a combination of a lot of things. I am going to stop the cardio for a few weeks to see what happens.

I will continue to workout and keep a cal deficit to reduce my fat.

Are you monitoring your body fat % or just your scale weight. you really want to monitor both. Your scale weight might be the same but if your BF% is going down you are increasing FFM.

    The scales can be deceptive.

Unlikely it was the sole reason. I did mostly cardio when I first got my weight down and I had steady weight loss from 5 sessions a week...then I had a sticking point which I will never fathom, since I lost 6 lbs the week after and nothing a week after the loss, then back to 1 lbs a week, which was better. Why a 6 lbs loss occurred and why the weight seemed to halt before that I have no idea, since nothing was altered, not diet, not routine. It could be that you just hit a "sticking point" temporarily...it does seem to happen and then the body gets back on track.

Yes I do monitor my BF %, seems like it has been bouncing around from 21.1 - 22.4

I think the most important thing is diet. You don't want to eat to low or too much calories. If you're not sure make sure you take note on what you're eating and their calories and compare it to other weeks and see how it shows up on the scale too.

The one time i actually lost weight while not doing cardio (while i was doing cardio there no / very slow fat loss) - was when work was super crazy so maybe stress levels are to blame?

Are you having a cheat day once a week to keep your metabolism up?

Well I guess I dont really know what a cheat meal would be. Do I need to add a meal that will increase my daily intake or just something different?

I mean its easy to add 2000 cal with a cheat meal from Burger King
