Unhappy Barbell Side Bends Good or Bad?

    Hi

I have been doing weighted side bends along with other ab exercies in order to reduce my waistline. I am doing a moderate weight routine and cardio twice a day in order to lose wight. I am using PCF 50, 30, 20 and have built up my daily diet to six meals per day.

I read an entry on the forum the other day that said weighted side bends are no good for you and that infact that they can make your waist bigger.

I know that it's all about opinions but as I am new to this forum I am now confused as to wether or not to drop this routine.

    Regards

diet will help you thin your waist better than side bends. most bodybuilders avoid side bends unless they have massive lats because they thicken the waist and take away from your lat size appearence

just create a solid diet and do some cardio and you lose fat in no time

You will not burn more fat in that particular region by doing exercises that target that area. Like NicoSuave said, they will increase muscle mass in that area.

Your diet is the most important factor in helping you trim down your waistline.

I have also read that weighted side bends are also bad on your spine. I quit doing them after reading that they can lead to injury

    Adding to what Nico said,

They'll thicken your waist, but won't make you fatter... You will only appear wider.

Personally, I do them. I see it as muscle mass that has the potential to burn more calories & that is my goal. That's just my take.
