    Default A few unknown exercises??

My wife is doing the 2 day fat loss and muscle tone workout. There are a few exercises that we can not find what they are...

1.) muffin tops 1-30 each side
    2.) mountain climbers 1-30
    3.) butt kicks(weighted) 1-50 each leg
4.) fireman buttkicks 1-50 each leg

also is there another exercise that she could substitute push ups, and lunges with. She can't quite do push ups and doesn't feel comfortable doing lunges at this time. But still wants to get a workout...

    Thanks for any help,

    Randy

I recently incoperated lunges in to my routine. I do them after squats. They are pretty darn effective.
Not only that but I think it is easy and safe for even the greenest beginner to do correctly, and they can be done with little or no equipment.

She does not have a lot of self confidence in her appearance and does not feel comfortable at this time to do them in a gym in front of people. She does them at home with me and the kids when we do our family workout, but just wants something that will help until she gets a little more comfortable with her surroundings. I really stopped trying to figure her out 12 years ago...but I want to help her out in anyway I can...

    Thanks again...

Try push-ups against a wall, use non-slip shoes (do 10 -20). This allows her to increase the angle slightly to make it harder when it becomes easier. Then progress to the kitchen worktops as the holding area, non-slip shoes again. Then when that becomes easier, use the side of the bath for hand placement. Then go to kneeling/half kneeling push-ups...then progress to doing as many proper floor push-ups as possible, and finish off a set of 10 - 20 with any one of the other methods...her strength will soon improve with this kind of gentle progression. Track the amount performed and the style in a book, and watch it get easier on paper, that will also be encouraging for her to see.

I would presume that fireman buttkicks are the same as regular buttkicks but with no weight. Get Bryan's input on those though. -EK

the difficulty is that you use either resistance bands or cable system to add 25 lb minimum of resistance.

trainingmom ^^ the same advice as the buttkickers will work to add weight to the muffin top leg lift. Resistance bands work great. You can also set the cable system to the bottom rung and attach a leg strap (or a loop will work if that's all your gym has). When doing this, it's really important to keep your back straight and body upright.
