    Default creatine and bananas

How good is it to use bananas along with my post workout shake of protein and creatine mixed in water? I honestly just like eating bananas vs. dextrose, but i was wondering at how effective a banana would be.

    Thanks

You would need a larger serving off banana's to get the same insulin spike as you would from using dextrose.

Honestly, you would need about 3 bananas to get an insulin spike PWO.

Would the fact that Bananas have different sugars in make a difference as well? Fructose as opposed to Dextrose I think...

Yes, fructose does restore glycogen levels but not as effectively as dextrose. They are both fast acting simple sugars but fructose is on a lower GI than dextrose. Plus... your body will have to digest the solid banana's making powdered dextrose optimal after workouts.

Not only that, the less ripe the banana is, the less sugar it contains. You would have to make sure that your bananas were well ripened. Not black but nice and yellow.

Fruit sugars generally must pass through the liver, while dextrose is not processed the same which allows quicker uptake on the dex.

Bananas are good for potassium after a work out and you might include one in the post work out meal later on.

So you're right in your thinking....

Looks like you guys sold me on dextrose... What kind (brand) of dextrose should i get? Are there different types of dextrose that I need to be aware about? Im thinking its probably a good idea to start using dextrose immediately post workout, and using my bananas for my post workout meal.

and also just to add the banana would take longer to be digested so it would be more difficult to get the insulin spike
Carry your sheild or go home on it
