How good is it to use bananas along with my post workout shake of protein and creatine mixed in water? I honestly just like eating bananas vs. dextrose, but i was wondering at how effective a banana would be.

4,228You would need a larger serving off banana's to get the same insulin spike as you would from using dextrose.

4,099Yes, fructose does restore glycogen levels but not as effectively as dextrose. They are both fast acting simple sugars but fructose is on a lower GI than dextrose. Plus... your body will have to digest the solid banana's making powdered dextrose optimal after workouts.

226,938Not only that, the less ripe the banana is, the less sugar it contains. You would have to make sure that your bananas were well ripened. Not black but nice and yellow.
