Default Are there any natural foods that increase nitric oxide levels?

With out turning to supps, are their any natural foods that you know of that help increase nitric oxide levels? Just wondering.

and if you are a fan of Arginine as a helper to raise Nitric Oxide - that can be found in fish..like tuna (yes, even out of the can), tilapia, orange roughy and shrimp.

    Bah, I'm too late!!

Eat more foods that contain the amino acid arginine, from which NO is produced. This includes beans, soy, almonds, walnuts, oats, and such cold-water fish as salmon, tuna, and mackerel. (from: http://www.rd.com/living-healthy/hea...icle15964.html).

Happy to help Bolan...yeah, I eat fish two or three times a week and have cinnamon on my oatmeal in the morning...been thinking of starting to drink wine. Ha,Ha,Ha

My personal experience with L-Arginine has been that I need to take 3 grams a day on top of the diet to notice any difference in the gym as far as vascularity/pumps.
I really didn't think it was worth the money just for "show" ...it never really made me feel any stronger.

But with the Nitric - I think there may be something to the whole "vascular function" concept.
So keep doing what you're doing brother!

L--Arginine is in my multi and I've always been a fan of an apple a day, plus peanuts in shells are my favorite snacking food. Not to mention my love of green and black tea

I figured it had to be like creatine, where you can get a fair amount from regular foods. Plus i dont have the money for any of the supps like No-Explode or anything. so at least I know i am getting so of the same effects with out having to change anything

the NO supplements will crash your body right before a workout with nitric oxide. i believe that even if you eat all these foods with arginine in it, you will not get the same results as you think. if fish was almost 100% arginine, we would all be eating a ton of fish before a workout instead of buying NO products. instead, eating all these arginine foods will be equivilant to taking BSN Nitrix which is an add-on to regular NO intake prior to exercise.

They also pack in caffeine and other stimulants. I really don't care about the extra energy i have plenty of that when i get to the gym The extra pump would be nice, but i was more concerned with knowing i am getting a good amount of NO. I know it won't be the same per say, but the positive health effects are there no doubt at all.

Would it be a good idea to buy L-Arginine supplements pills instead of using superpump, NO xplode or any of that caffeine loaded garbage? I would like to get a bit more of a pump without the caffeine, taurine, etc...

ultimately once your body is loaded up, i am not sure how much of a difference it makes. kind of like creatine.

    I could be wrong though.

NO is not like creatine... high levels of NO can be very dangerous. This is why NO supplements are usually not intended for people under the age of 18. It is potentially fatal if inhaled and can lead to serious problems if overdose occurs by ingestion.

Bolan is saying it is like creatine in the aspect that you need to take it every day to keep your levels up. Furthermore, if taking NO is so dangerous how come many people, including yourself I'm sure, having taking it and are fine? And where in the article you provided does it mention anything about taking a dose recommended for bodybuilding daily, as being dangerous? It is harmful if inhaled? What does that have to do with NO supps? LOL how are you going to inhale them? What your saying really doesn't make much sense......

What I am saying does make sense. High levels of Nitrogen monoxide are dangerous. if Nitrogen monoxide is inhaled it can be potentially fatal. Never said taking it as a supplement was dangerous. I said serious problems will result if overdosed by ingestion. Bolan wasn't talking about supps in his initial post, he was talking about increasing levels of Nitrogen Monoxide in his body in general. I was just giving an understanding of the gas itself- not bashing the supplement or the use of it.

NITROGEN MONOXIDE?!!! WTF?!! WHO THE HECK SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT?!! What are you talking about? NITROGEN MONOXIDE IS A POISIOUS GAS!!!!! You will die if you inhale nitrogen monoxide. It is a by product of burning gas.
They are talking about NITRIC OXIDE, the supplement.... BIG DIFFERENCE..... Re read the original post........ Why would anyone ask about increasing there nitrogen monoxide levels.....lol!
What I am wrong....lol thats carbon monoxide i was thinking of......

nitrogen monoxide eh? thats a good one yes, everyone makes errors but i had to admit..that was a little funny.

before you take any supplements, you are supposed to consult a doctor concerning any side effects that it may have. nitric oxide has its benefits but its not for everyone. people with the wrong conditions (either inherited or contracted) may have serious issues with it. companies dont feel like being sued because someone didnt read the labels.

yeah bro. Nitrogen monoxide is nitric oxide. Any thing you take and you're not sure of should be consulted with your doctor, even starting working out to begin with. Most people just stick to regular vitamins and protein because they just don't like to experiment with any other things. What supps do you take?
