Default Pure carb powder - simple or complex?

So I'm using this 100% pure carb powder made by Gen-Tec. It says on the packed that it induces insulin spike. Does this mean its simple or complex carbs? It's not dextrose.

All carbohydrates will cause insulin to be released to lower blood sugar, but the simpler the carbohydrate the more insulin that is released. The more complex the carbohydrate the slower the insulin release is. The insulin release will push the carbs out of the blood stream and into the muscle/liver to be used, but if the carbohydrate store in muscle and liver are full then off it goes into our fat stores to be used at another time. if ever..lol

Look on the tub it should say "maltodextrin" which is complex, or it could be a blend of simple (sugar) and complex

Maltodextrin is a rather deceiving complex carb, as it is digested almost as fast (but not quite as fast) as dextrose. By the time it leaves your mouth some of the maltodextrin will already have been broken down into pure dextrose by the enzyme amylase.

Both are high GI carbs. Maltodextrin (even though it is "Complex") will certainly give you the insulin spike you need straight after your workout.

I use those Gen-Tec pure carbs, they're excellent. Saurus is right, they are high GI and will invoke a good insulin spike. I met the guy the makes the Gen-tec products (by accident, he happened to be in the supps store when I was) and he gave me some good info about their protein, carbs and creatine products.

So you reckon dextrose would be better?

2 questions...

1. How much dextrose should I take post workout and should I take it at any other time throughout the day?

2. Is it better to take creatine with dextrose or water?

Thanks

Maltodextrins are easily digestible complex carbohydrates made from natural corn starch. The starch is cooked, and then broken down into smaller polymers (a process similar to that used by the body to digest carbohydrate). Maltodextrins are sometimes called glucose polymers.

Sorry mate..didnt see the post, after training the more simpler the carbohydrate the more insulin release and given that after training is the ideal time to push nutrients into the muscle. So yes after training dextrose with some complex carb

(1) The research has said that 75g dextrose is the optimum amount but you can use less than that if you want around 50g with 25g maltodextrin

(2) Far better to take the creatine with dextrose than with water
