For pressups What i got told to do when i had a pressup test in boxing was to do this

Superset x 2
20 normal pressups
20 close grip pressups

Then
20 pressups Where you put your hands together so thers sort of a triangle in the middle of them

Then as many sets to failure as possible on normal and close grip pressups

Rugby sides never test strength with just pullups and pressups, as these do very little to help you in the game... and neither are great strength builders.
I play hooker lol even though i have a flankers mobility...not bragging, im one of the smallest forwards in the team i am 16 years old btw so dont b apalled by my stats....
i weight 80kg....my props weight a 100 each lol i can bench 80kg about 10 times...i have been stagnating over the last 2 years because of a shoulder injury so i basically could not do any chest for long periods of time....i am not sure of my stats for the others....because i dont do them on a regular basis. my legs get enough of a workout from the rugby trainings and i do shoulders, back, chest and biceps at the gym.
the only upper body tests were pullups and pushups and we dont work on them at all in training as they are quite useless...but the coaches wanna see if were putting in effort outside the training sessions and try to put on some bulk on our upper bodies...

For me it did pretty well i increased by quite a few but if you want to do more pressups determination is your best friend

You might respond different to this but theres only one way to find out so might aswell give it a try for a week or two

Default This might help!

First, Alternate your grip each time you do the pullups. They will allow you to develop the muscles slightly different each time. Wide grip, close grip, reverse grip, neutral grip. Also, if you have a spotter have them force a couple of reps each time this will help get over your plateaus!. Doing weight exercises like wide grip pulldowns, standing bent over rows will also with your pullups. Also, do one pullup and slowly let yourself down over 60 seconds. This helped increase the number of pullups that I can do!!
