Default Full body programs - a waste?

So, if les is more and a training day should not take more than 1 hour, then how can you work your whole body? I wouldnt be able to do that in a day, and especially not in 1 hour.

Or are full body workouts meant to be only made of compound lifts?

Are you talking about a routine in perticular?

I would guess in general, if time is of the essence or you are trying to do a fully body day then componds are the way to go. Going to be the best bang for the buck in terms of muscles worked and intensity.

I think full body workouts use compound lifts and either target the 3 major muscles, then indirectly target the other muscles OR they target every muscle but using only 1-2 exercises for each muscle. Therefore it would add to just about under 1 hour.

I do a fullbody routine 3 times a week and in under an hour; and yes, they do/can have isolation movments in as well.

Well in many articles about overtraining, a training should not take 1 hour right? The only way to hit the whole body with a full body training is to do compound lifts then... Thats the only way i can see it at least.

As you can see, this one's not just made up of compounds; it can be done in under an hour and targets all muscle groups:

The reason why it is recommended to train under an hour is that the body starts to fatigue past this point. Cortisol levels can also rise past this point. ( anti-anabolic hormone )

And ussualy after about 1 hour of lifting is when testosterone levels begin to drop and Cortisol levels begin to rise. This of course is a bad combination and is why any good muscle building routine can be completed in under an hour.

Hmm... Maybe it is just because i am new to the world of bodybuilding, but i do not imagine myself doing that within 1 hour.

Thanks for answers though.

Have you been seeing results with the program?

I don't use that particualr routine, but yes I see results, I put on 11 lbs of muscle, over the course of a year, with a 3 day fullbody routine...and after trying various splits have decided to stick with the 3 day fullbody workout, mainly because I like it.
