Lat pull downs work your lats, but wide grip pull ups do a better job

Remember to use a wide grip with the lat-pulldowns as well...

I got told by a trainer that when doing the Lat pull-down machine, you shouldplace your hands where your lats end.. (Straight up, then 5 degrees,10 dregrees etc) as it hits them more. Then, when they get wider, move your arms across the bar abit. .. Maybe its a small thing or maybe im totally wrong, but yeah thats what im currently doing and i do feel that i hit them more.
Not sure if im correct, give it a try anyway

Not true...pull down to the back or pull down to the front; the hand spacings should be wide grip,

yes as has already been said lat pull up is the best builder but also lat pull down combined is the 1 for getting you a v shape.....accept i found that when using a wide grip it will stimulate the very upper lat....thus giving u a v shape only when u lift your arms up a little.....

hold the lat pull down or pull up bar about shoulder width apart and do pull downs like that....making sure you keep yout back straight throughout the movement..also pull your ellbows back when you have pulled the bar down...this will build the lower part of that lat muscle.....then when your walking along you will appear more V shaped bcoz the lat will start lower down your side...

When doing lat pulldowns concentrate on pulling your elbows in towards your sides as you pull the bar down, this helps me concentrate my effort in the lats more, and also as stated above use a wide grip.

just my 2 cents worth.
