Have I come to the right place?
hi guys
just wondering,
before I start going through all these articles etc, I'm 17 and joining the fire service over the next 12 months, but i'm not particularly at the right fitness level.
Have i come to the right place for help?
I've never used a serious fitness routine in the past, so any hints and tips would be appreciated.
thanks
xx

Welcome Chrissy,
If you could list what physical tests you have to pass to be able to work in Fire Service it will help us help you develop a workout so you can pass those tests.
Also list what you think your strengths and weaknesses are.
Dave

Wow a firefighter wantabee. Well again if you post your requirements then we should be able to point you in the right direction. Remember to post a profile on your bodyfat percentage, height, weight, and any previous injuries. This can help us fine tune the program to enhance your outcome. I do have a firefighter fitness program, but it is designed for firefighters in the service already. Did you know the number one cause of injury for a firefighter is?
Heart Attacks!
The belief is that they have to be ready 24-7 or during their shift for anything so there system often is under stress and then compound this with making calls and you have a MI waiting to happen. Running/aerobic conditioning will help greatly. Also an aspirin a day(check with your doctor first). Running/aerobics 20 minutes to start on a daily basis would be helpful.
Keep us posted and welcome! Read, post, laugh, and most important smile!

http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/PhysicalTests.asp
Read the link, it details the basic (english) physical test. Never too early to start working towards that.
And you couldnt have picked a better place to come to learn how to get to that level of strength and fitness. They hid clues in the website name. Ninjas.
