Right now? I am doing legs 2x a week (2 sets of 3-5 reps with very heavy weight). Over the summer it was an upper/lower split 3 days a week so one week would be upper/lower/upper and the next would be lower/upper/lower doing plyos on the days between lifts.
Jump squats are necessary. Just do normal squats then add in a plyometric routine (box jumps, jump rope, non-weighted jump squats/split jumps, and stuff. That's what I did over the summer and my vertical increased a lot.
Hey man, figured I'd let you know I tested out my vertical today. No certain measurements but I jumped and tapped my temple (side of my head) on the bottom of the back board and two-handed alley-ooped easily.
