Great article. I am now left wondering how to adjust my routine to better suit my goals. The goal is muscle mass. My question is in regards to Tempo and Intensity to Reps.
What is the best Tempo to perform my excercises for building muscle mass?? Is it the slower tempos or faster?
Secondly, what is the correct range of reps to be performing to build muscle mass??

Hi...personally slow reps with perfect form puts the time under tension of the muscle that is being trained far greater than rushed reps. To many times in the gym you will see reps rushed just to get the required amount of reps, I timed a male today in his bench press and the time that the muscle was under load for ten reps was a total of 7 seconds.
The best rep range for muscle growth is 6-12 reps, personally I prefer and recommend the 6-8 reps or 12-10-8-6. or 10-8-6-4

Thank you for the clarification Doug. I knew there was a reason I am on this site everyday!
I have been performing the 12, 10, 8, 6. So its nice to know I am on the right track. Now I just have to monitor my tempo. Cheers
