Default Pain in both forearms

Hi ive been working out for about 6 months, and around a month ago i started gettin a pain in my forearms when doing certain exorcises, like dumbell curls and shoulder rows.

It wasnt to bad until this week, today i couldnt complete my workout of preacher curls because the pain was too much.

It is about 4-5 inches up from the wrist on the outside of each forearm, it feels like my bone is splitting or something its really odd, and on both arms.

Thanks for any help

hey,

how many times a week are you doing bicep exercises.. ther is the possibility your overtraining them and not giving them enuf time to repair themselves..

sometimes wen u relli give a certain muscle a strainuos workout it might need more time to repair .

Are you sure it was due to your training? What kind of work do you do? This may be more the reason why after 6 months your training has caused discomfort. Most definitely if it is in the bone you should stop doing anything that causes the irritation to persist. So contrary to the adage "no pain no gain" stop when you feel the pulling in your bone. If after using the tip mentioned next does not relieve the discomfort I recommend you seek professional help, possibly a physical or occupational therapist. You may also benefit from a trainer to review your form.

If you are having difficulty with rows or curls are your arms fixed, meaning are you using a long bar? I have posted on this web site before on the need to use dumb bells to decrease your forarm discomfort. By using this approach your arms will be free to twist inorder to eliminate the discomfort and continue training.

It seems like you have the same thing I have had for the past months, It is a pain that seems to be right between the bone and the muscle of my forearms, I cant tell what it is but mine started to hurt during mid summer when i was working surface work for a mining company swinging hammers, shoveling, and bagging lime. I thought it would be a good idea one day to do 21's or 7 ups what ever you want to call them and doing them as forearm curls and ever since then i can not git ride of the pain, I even have taken a break for a month and its still there and hurts the most when i do preacher curls with the ez bar i dont know what to do about it. It seems not to hurt as much in my right anymore but my left hurts like hell somtimes.

Hi, what you are discribing could be an overuse injury to the tendons or muscles of the forearms......

You should see your Doc or a sports physio...

Normal treatment for this type of injury is rest until the symptoms have disappeared. apply ice if the pain is accute, if the pain isnt accute apply heat treatment and wear something that will keep the forearm warm....

Yitmy :-) or Orome will be on later and may advise something else....

Yeah he got it, YAHOO!

See my previous post for insight that may help isolate and determine the problem if the pain persists.

Are you having any pain with anything requiring a firm grip or turning the wrist (like opening a jar or turning a doorhandle)? And is the pain near the elbow or more like halfway between the elbow and the wrist?

I've been having the same problem too. I know it is from my curls. I just can't tell if it is because I have poor form, too much weight (forarms can't support it), or something else.

I'm going to try light weight on barbell curls and use mostly dumbbells. Curls are only one day a week.

I just experienced a pain similar to the one he is describing earlier. I was working out curling with more weight then usual (I'd been doing my current wight fine for some time so I decided to bump up each dumbell 5 pounds) and now I have a pain in my left forearm arm that spikes every time I put force on my arm and try to do something. To give you an idea of where the pain is, when my left arm is outstretched palm down, the area the pain occurs in is about half way between my wrist and elbow on the bottom left part of my arm (side opposite the thumb). I think I may have damaged the tendons or something.
