Strange
A couple of weeks ago I was undertaking a particularly tough shoulder workout. At the conclusion of each exercise, my deltoids burned. I now have a problem. Since that workout, any type of strain (exercise) to my deltoids (bench and arms) results in the same burning sensation. It doesn't happen immediately. I can usually get through the entire set before the burn makes me stop. I skipped my shoulder workout last week hoping that a week off would give me the rest I needed. Any advice will be appreciated.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to get it checked out by a doctor, especially since it's been two weeks. It could just be that you didn't allow it enough time to heal/settle initially, or there could be an underlying problem; more than likely the first of the two, since you mention that it has hurt when using similar movements since that time.

I was planning on skipping my shoulder workout again this week to give myself more time to recover. The strange thing is I have full range of motion and it is the actual deltoid muscles that are buring in both shoulders.

Since it is the muscles it would seem to indicate that it is a muscular problem brought on by the training. It's good that the range of motion is still full.
I suffer TOS (won't go into detail) and if I do a back/shoulder routine that is too 'heavy' although I still have 100% range of motion, I will feel like I have been kicked in the back for days afterwards, or as if I have bad flu; hence the reason I also suggest that it would be wise to get it checked out, in case there is something underlying...it is more than likely though, just muscular...and needs adequate recovery time. Yitmy or one of the others should be able to advise a little better, since they are qualified in this area...

5kgLifter, thanks for the advice and speedy responses. I am pretty sure I know which exercise did it. Since I am always looking for varients in my workouts, I added 3 sets of one arm cable lateral raises to my shoulder workout. The intense burning started during my second week of using this exercise.

Glad you managed to pinpoint the exercise, might be worth going lighter on it, and see how you respond (once you're back in full health, no burn etc), in order to see if the exercise causes specific problems in the future. If it does, then it would be worth getting the shoulders checked out, and explaining to the doc which exercises affect them in particular.

It could be your rotator cuff as the deltoid area is a referral area for the rotator cuff. You will usually feel a burning sensation in the deltoid area when you work your rotator cuff. Are you having any pain with this or just a burning sensation? and when you experience this, how long does it last? Also are you having any pain when lifting your arm up overhead or any other movements?

No, I am not having any pain with the motion. I only experience the burning sensation. For example, I experience the burn on my 7-8 of a 10 rep set for dumbbell incline. The brurning sensation only occurs on the lateral/outside portion of the muscle. Once I stop the burn quickly goes away.

I have the exact same thing, it would most likely be lactic acid in the shoulders.
I always get that when performing shoulders, there is no problem with it.
Everytime i do shoulder presses, i get it, same with lateral raises.
Of what your telling it should be no problem.
But still keep an eye on it. IF you are feeling pain, see about it.

You should be ok then, the burning sensation is either fatigue in the rotator cuff or deltoids themselves. You may want to add in a few rotator cuff exercises to your routine and see if that helps.
