Default Tip of the day

I thought a "Tip of the day" thread might be a nice addition - Something short that might be helpful to somebody. It also might become a useful compendium one day...

So if anybody has something that they've recently heard or learnt, regarding exercises, nutrition, suplements, or anything, post it here. And if we have more than one tip per day, all the better.

OK, here's the first one:

"In Tricep kickbacks, the hold at the top is probably more important than in any other exercise."

Symmetry Tip

Always exercise the weaker side first. Then complete only as many repetitions on the stronger side as performed on the weaker side.

Buy your food in bulk.

Rice: 10kg bag (Im not kidding, you'll be surprised at how fast you use it!)
Meat: 1.5kg+
Eggs: Crate

With meat especially there can be huge savings. For example, When I was at the supermarket the other day bulk-buy rump steak (3kg) was 40% cheaper than if you bought 500g.

Problem is you need a big freezer!

"Dont put your C**k in a Vacum cleaner when its switched on"..lol

My tip:

"Always use a training diary" that way when you start a session look back in your diary to what you achieved last session and this time you want MORE. Ie if you are working in a 6 - 8 rep range and last time you achieved 7 reps then get it in your head that this time you want to achieve 8, and nine times out of ten you will achieve it because it is in your head....hopefully..lol. Once you achieve the 8 reps then next time you up the weight......progress !!!!!!!!

Doug, you are so right!

I've recently started doing this. What I also do is, immediately after my workout, I sit down with my notes while enjoying my "post-workout shake", and decide upon and write down my program for the next workout. This way, every weakness from today's workout gets dealt with in the next - nothing gets forgotten...

And since I started keeping notes, every workout has been superb. Nice, tip, Doug!

I Find that by keeping a diary helps with progress, thats why personal trainers can earn so much money because it is them who keeps the notes and when they produce a graph of how body fat is going down and strength is going up the client is made up, but it is only what the client can do on their own, the only difference is the trainer would push for more work so that the graphs look good...lol

when you do your workout make sure that you give it your all, no good coming out of the gym and saying "I could of done more"

Like the saying goes "IF YOUR NOT GOING TO SH*T, GET OFF THE PAN". :-)

Never hold your breath during weight training -- it can cause your blood pressure to rise dangerously. Instead, exhale as you lift the weight and inhale as you bring the weight down.
