Here's one:

Always remember the reason you started to lift in the first place, always keep it with you, and when you start to feel like quiting, think of that reason, and you'll push through.. -motivation, concentration and persistance..

Nice tip. It's a bit late for the November mag, but I'll put it in the December issue.

It is so important to know what you want from your training and to build your routine around it. I am only just beginning to realise this, and it makes a massive difference to one's motivation, performance and results. Doug asked my recently what my goals are, and it was hard to answer. Since I figured out what I actually want from my training, it's really made a psycological difference.

Write down your goals. You may not actually know what they are unless you can write them down - it's harder than you think.

I think a little philosophical quote is appropriate here:

"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter."

Thanks all...

I think the hardest part about when you're feeling like not working out is just getting to the gym and starting up... I found that once I start up that I don't feel the same way... it's just one of the things that if I feel that way, I have to basically suck it up, say 'f' it and get nice and ticked off...

I remember one time feeling that I wasn't getting anywhere and I should just quit, why, why, why... blah, blah... then my motivation snuck up on me without warning., and all of sudden my brain snapped right back to attention.. I remember saying, "that's the reason why"...

There's a sociological technique called NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming., basically it's a way of re-programming yourself to think confidently and feel better about yourself, and in doing so making everyone else around you feel good as well.. kind of a neat technique.. I had read part of a book on it a little while ago., and it really changed my outlook on everything... motivation, along w/ positive thinking has really helped me along... anyway enough of my rant...
