a simple way method i use.......

open the picture into Preview, resize the window so the picture is smaller so it zooms out.

Then, press Prt Scr (screen shot button), on the top right of keyboard near Scroll lock, and go to paint, then edit paste or Ctrl+V

Select your image with the dotted square in the top left,

then cut and paste it into a new paint and save as.

to upload, i use http://imageshack.us/

ask questions if theres any confusion
