Same old same old
Ok, the reason why I joined M & S was, contrary to popular opinion, not to keep an eye on Saurus, but because I am still wanting to loose weight. Since changing jobs almost 5 years ago (I used to have an active job whereas now I have a sedentary job (really sedentary - the bathroom is 7 steps away and thats it)) the weight is creeping steadily on. Last year I started Dougs diet and decided I needed more exercise - so I started kickboxing - great so I tore my Calf muscle badly and promptly got DVT, that took me about a year to recover from not to mention 2 months with my leg up. Just what a sedentary person needs! Ok so I should have watched my diet but I didn't etc etc... So now I want to start again only now I have a broken arm .. what did I say about accident prone... Anyway I worked out on the calorie calculator that I should eat about 1780 calories - then I read somewhere if I cut out 700 calories I will loose 1 kg in 10 days - but then somewhere else it said not to go below 1200 calories. So how many should a really sedentary person eat?
Any ideas for a workout - I haven't got time to get to a gym - at home with broken arm?

I'd stick with the 1200 calorie "floor". Since you're not active at the moment 1780 cals may just keep your weight the same. if you subtract 500 cals from that (typical weight loss recommendation) you'll be 1280, pretty close to the 1200 calorie floor. 1280 would be 72% of your BMR so going any lower may slow your metabolism down.
So can you work 5 meals of 256 calories in to your day?
I'm sure you can! Help her out Saurus!

Hi, I wouldnt advise on a female going below 1200 calories...You can expend any other calories needed in your deficit by using fast walking...

Hi Doug
I dont want to sound as if I am not willing to try or anything but fast walking here just isn't an option - one cannot walk in the streets or parks here, its too dangerous, unless one walks at the gym - that trampoline thing looked fun and it can fit in my study (just just) - does it burn calories or just a little? How long must one do the jumping thing?

I'm not sure trampoline jumping with a broken arm is such a good idea. even though the trampoline should absorb much of the impact, there is still an instability factor that may cause your body to "Self Adjust" which may affect the hurt arm. Be careful!
Any recumbent exercise bikes in the house?
