Make sure the box is sturdy!
Tell us when ya can do 10-12 reps straight with the box. Did ya order the bands, ya might have to look around for cheaper places.

I'm jumping off the floor, I'm a bit tall for the setup. I've been hunting for the bands everywhere, but I don't have a credit card (vile things, I rid of it years ago) so I can't order them online. I'm going to the sports shop tomorrow and if they don't have them I might ask about them ordering them in.
I can manage seven at the moment, although I can't hold my weight up at all, I drop back down again. It's only little effort off my toes, not solely jumping power.

Yeah thats fine. Just make sure when you hit the ground, you don't stay there too long. You want all your reps to be timed well (if that makes sense) for increased intensity.
You might need to concentrate on breathing as well, otherwise you will run outta breath.
Are you using the medium width hammer chinups, they tend to be easier for beginners. Doesn't matter what grip you use, just choose the easiest, and stick to the same one.

My grip on the bar is about shoulder width with my palms facing towards me, thumbs pointed out.
I'm going to try for eight today, let's see how I go.

From personal experience, HIIT is the best way to help with the running. Im not the smartest person when it comes to lifting (or running actually), but it helped me get my mile time from around 8 to a 6:30 (Yea still pretty bad at running) in a matter of about 2 months.
Good luck!

Too Fat For Certain Exercises
This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I know my butt is getting in the way of me being able to perform certain exercises properly. For instance, when I want to do crunches, I can't sit at the right angle because my rear end tilts me. It causes a bit of back pain and so I've started doing other ab work in a standing position. I got some ideas for these from a tae bo workout dvd, (Billy Blanks is so hot.. )
As my body fat gets lower I should be able to get down and dirty with the core muscles on the floor and the bench. I've just added a fit ball to my collection of equipment, but the cubs are getting more enjoyment out of it than me at the moment. LOL

to increase your running capabilities you could wear ankle weights to strengthen your legs.
