are dumbell pullovers essential for a perfect rounded chest...all i do is,flat bench press, incline barbel presses(changin back to dumbell this week) flat flyes and crossovers.

You dont need to do pullovers, personally i dont like them, they work too many muscles for me back triceps and chest its hard to fit it into my routine. Vary flat flyes with incline flyes and maby do some dips every couple weeks to just hit the lower section of the pecs a bit.

I'm with Shaun on this one. I dont like pullovers in a chest routine, far better to concentrate on the main chest building exercises....

Pullovers hit Lats more in my case, hence I do it on Lats day.
Plus I do slight variation in which it actually targets the Serratus muscles |

I love those serratus muscles!
They are always stiff after pullovers, and look good, too...I always include pullovers in total body workouts (where most exercises should be compound), but never if I'm doing a chest-only workout.

What I do is that instead of doing the normal pullover - ie keeping the elbows stiff (at constant angle), I change my elbow angle, so that my forearm is almost parallel to the ground.
You can visualise by imagining me doign pullups/chinups - however, I am lying down on a bench, and I have a barbell in my hands. |

For me, normal, regular pullovers work really well for the serratus. They're stiff every time after pullovers.

The serratus are on the surface of the upper ribs at the side of the chest.
![]() You can clearly see well defined serratus muscles in this picture: ![]()
