Default Chest & Tris or Chest & Bis

I have noticed a lot of advice on regarding a split routine that encourages chest and biceps on one day. Devising my own splits currently, I have put together chest and triceps, on the basis that tris are synergists in the chest exercises, and so I can achieve total fatigue by also isolating these muscles in other exercises.

What are the benefits of chest and bis?

Its exactly what you have said, tri's are used when performing chest exercises, so they are already pre-exhausted before you train them, but by training tri's with shoulders or on their own they dont get as much work before hand, and so the tricep workout will hit the triceps when they are fresh and not have been already worked.....

I think you're dead on Rob.
Chest is a hard one at times.
I'll bet you may not be growing at the moment but you have better stability in your lifts, your form is dead on and you feel a bit more of a pump then you did with Triceps working. (just what I'm thinking)
How long since you started this split?

I heard somewhere that your bench can go up faster if you train Triceps on seperate days from chest

I think I just need to revamp my split, maybe my body is ready for a change
But if your triceps were rested you would be able to use more weight and force a greater training load onto the chest muscle....

Yeah, I'd give that a shot Rob.
You'll probably pick up some motivation with it cause you're doing something new or different.
And, yes, I was eluding to a little switch up on routine.
(Actually I'm due for that myself so that I can get some new pics posted - white socks optional of course)

Well against Doug's no doubt good advice, I took some more, and a bit more, and ended up with 50/50 in support of each split, and in the end went with chest and triceps, along the theory posted on here already about fatigue in the tris.

I also think I managed to sort the order of my routine so that my tris weren't too fatigued for the presses (1st and 4th exercises of 6). Seemed to work well - I have a lot of pain and a lot of pump, but the truth will be in the results over the coming weeks.

The theorys are there but you have to find what works best for you in terms of bringing the best results, if one of them was better then everyone would use that split, but each split will bring different results for different people.
