olympic bar weighs 45lbs, 20kg's
i think ez bars weight about 10kg but they may vairy

Yes Shaun is right, the olympic bar is 20kg and the EZ bar 10kg, normally dont count the bar when using the EZ bar, or the bar that is on a smith machine, just count the weight, people who count the weight of a bar into the weight used for training does so purely for "ego" purposes only...

I always count the weight of the bar as well, seeing as it adds to the total amount you are lifting; it makes sense to me.
An Olympic bar with 50kg on it, weighs a total of 70kg... Not 50...

The reply was with regard to the smith machine and the EZ bar..but any method of adding the weight up will do.....

My point was when writing a weight down into a training log why would you want to count the bar on the smith machine or EZ bar, far easier to write down the weight that you use on the bar... but if it sounds better to you to count the bar or the smith machine bar weight, then its personal choice....
