Default Which Carbs?

Hi. I have heard a lot of dicussion about carbs. Do i want to take in simple carbs or complex carbs? I believe it is simple carbs, becasue they are easier to burn, but i am not positive. Which type is it, and can you provide me a list of foods that fall under each type? Thank you.
