Here is an interesting question...
So I'm at work, just got back from the gym, I have eaten the food I have for lunch but I didn't quite have enough to get full today, need to go shopping tonight!. I still clearly feel hungry. My question is this, I don't want to provoke the starvation response by not eating, BUT my only options are in the vending machine so which is better: Not eat but feel hungry for the next 5-6 hrs? (will cause the body to feed on muscle instead of fat) or Eat cr*p from the vending machine? BTW - I opted for a snickers from the machine Just curious on other peoples thought/opinions. As a general rule I always make sure I never feel hungry, but without over eating. |

Hi Rich, if this ever happens to me I usually opt for some wheat crunchies which have 9g Fat (only a little of which saturates) and 20g carbs. Not ideal I know but i prefer to eat these than go hungry if i do every get stuck, although I have a tub of whey in my desk so no excuse for me really

Thanks for the input guys
Both suggestions assume I am prepared though. I USUALLY am, I have food at my desk all the time. But I mean for those times when you just didn't have time to get to the store etc so you end up in a position with no good food available... |

I'd eat pretzels or the crackers as recommended and drink 16 oz. of water straight away. Then plan a small recovery meal (Protein/Fats for the most part) as soon as I got out of there.
It's tough when you are faced with this type of dilema. Good question.

If I was bulking, and the choice was eat or not, I'd eat from the machine.

OH! I remember those now JB52! ha ha
Been on this side of the pond for a while now! LOL Thanks guys. BTW, on a general note - I KNOW all about preparation etc etc, but I personally cannot cover every possible thing 100% of the time, this is talking about those "oh sh*t I didn't bring enough food today" moments....surely they happen to most of us at least occasionally? |
