Muscle Building Diet Samples

Any questions about diet, post them in this thread.
So I checked out the 1st meal and like how it sounds especially beings i'll be working out at night. You based that sample diet on a 180lb guy. I am 180lbs at 6'1" so I was going to use that sample diet. One thing I am worried about would be gaining fat. I underdtand you will gain some fat as you gain muscle but do you think this is a good diet for a beginner?
Thanks!!!

One thing that jumps out to me on this is that in light of the fact that most people's body types lean towards a preference to carb or proteins, the last part of these diets, Protein before bed, may not sit well with carb body types.

I personally am more of a carb body type and soon learned that protein within a couple of hours of bed made it very difficult to sleep, so beware.

My gym trainer gave me a quiz...I'll try and find it...but basically you answer questions on your body's reactions to carbs and proteins etc and it gives you a rough ratio of carbs/protein for your body type.

Kind of like an Ecto, Endo, Meso-morph ratio, mine was something like 6-3 to carbs...

I'll see if I can get another copy and show you some examples...

One example is the atkins diet, generally speaking it will work best for primarily protein body types whereas it will be very difficult for carb body types obviously due to the lack of carbs in the diet...

(I AM IN NO WAY ADVOCATING THE ATKINS DIET FOR ANYONE, NOR ANY DIET WITHOUT EXERCISE FOR THAT MATTER)

In reply to the above, I have heard of people who are selling books or diet programmes based on what you have put above, but once again this is a money spinner for the author of these books..

The problem you mention lies with the digestive enzymes of the body..

But the fact is how the body works....And basically it is all down to digestion, because people who have digestion problems suffer medical/health problems but with an optimum digestion the body is able to prevent such chronic health problems such as hypo or hyperglycemia; fatigue; headaches; candida; constipation/diarrhea; arthritis; allergies; infections or other conditions caused by a compromised immune system. Your Ph balance and digestive enzymes are very important to the absorption or assimilation of our food and medications. The brains chemicals/neurotransmitters (Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepherine) are dependant on proper digestion. Therefore if the digestion is inadequate, the production of neurotransmitters involved in brain function and attention will also be inadequate. If you have a high acid level and can not normalise this through adding vegetables or a greens product You may have to add digestive enzymes. The pH balance is necessary for a completely integrated path to optimal health. PH Balance is basically how alkaline or acidic our body is, particularly your blood and body's tissues. Every function performed by any organ in the body depends on that range of pH level. All leading biochemists and medical physiologists have recognized pH or acid/alkaline balance as the most important aspect of a balanced and healthy body. When the diet is imbalanced with an excess of acid or alkaline residues, the body pH is directly and immediately impacted. When a body is acidic, it creates a welcoming environment for viruses and bacteria to come in and begin to flourish. We experience lack of energy, frequent illnesses and pains. an imbalanced pH can slowly but steadily corrode your body and lead to numerous health problems. If a person doesn't do anything about changing the acidic state of the body, the situation can get worse. Virus or bacteria can mutate into a serious illness such as cancer, infection and other serious illnesses or diseases. Also, the body becomes unable to process or cleanse itself of toxins and other food additives when it is in an acidic state. These substances are not meant to be in our food and our bodies. Many of these toxins can be resting in our bodies for a very long time before they create or cause any problems. In the brain, they slow or interfere with neurotransmissions, creating all sorts of neurological and learning difficulties. Therefore, maintaining alkalinity is essential for life health and vitality. Magnesium, along with potassium, is required to maintain a healthy pH balance. This pH balance is required for protein synthesis and enzyme activity. Most high protein foods (such as meat, fish, poultry and eggs), nearly all carbohydrates (including grains, breads, pastas) and fats are "acid-forming." And most fruits and vegetables are "base-forming." Although citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruit, contain organic acids and may have an acid taste, they are not acid forming when metabolized, leaving no acidic residue. Similarly, Free-Form Amino Acids are not acid-forming, but instead offer unique buffering capabilities to the body. When a person eats proteins, carbohydrates, and fat, the pancreas responds by secreting the proper amounts and concentrations of protease, amylase, and lipase enzymes to digest the foods and transport their nutrients into the bloodstream. The digestive enzymes help your body break down the foods you eat more easily, and in turn, your body does not have to produce as much stomach acid to complete it’s part in the digestion process. Taking a digestive enzyme which contains the full spectrum of digestive enzymes will effectively breakdown all types of foods. Active Enzyme complexes digest dietary proteins, sugars and carbohydrates, fiber and fats within the gastrointestinal tract.

A digestive enzyme complex supplement will contain enzymes like:Lipase: which is an enzyme that digests fats, helping to maintain correct gall bladder function. Protease: which is a digestive enzyme that digests proteins and may be helpful for people with food allergies. Amylase: works great for digesting starches and carbohydrates and may be useful for people with gluten sensitivities. Cellulase: A digestive enzyme that digests fiber cellulose, Lactase: This enzyme digests milk and milk by-products and is extremely useful for individuals that are lactose intolerant. Also digestive enzyme complexes also contain other ingredients which help with a state of balance and optimum digestion and as such the body is better able to prevent chronic health problems such as hypo or hyperglycemia; fatigue; headaches; candida; constipation/diarrhea; arthritis; allergies; infections or other conditions caused by a compromised immune system.

Bodybuilders who are coming up to competition normally take digestive enzymes to help in the food digestion.

Anyone who is taking or is prescribed antibiotics should take digestive enzymes before, during and after taking the antibiotics due to these drugs killing the good bacteria in the body......

Whey protein comes from the waste products left from making cheese, years ago they used to throw it away, then people started seeing the benefits of whey protein, bodybuilders have used it for years, and now they also use it in hospitals for people with impaired immune systems like people who are on chemotherapy.....Whey is a superb, high bioavailability of amino acids and is far superior to any food product for building muscle.
