Default New Tool - Diet Spreadsheet

Hi guys

I wrote a little calorie counting spreadsheet which I've been using and have found very useful.

Since most people eat roughly the same foods most of the time, the spreadsheet allows you to enter calorie, protein, carbs and fibre data once, and then all you need to do is enter the number of portions each day, and the spreadsheet will calculate the following for you automatically:

Calories for the day
Calories from protein and percentage protein
Calories from carbs and percentage carbs
Calories from fats and percentage fats
Total fibre

So, here it is:

http://www.muscleandstrength.com/fil...preadsheet.xls

I've left my diet in as an example, but here's a few instructions anyway:

Instructions:

1. Click on the page called "Tables." Here, you should enter the calories, protein, carb, fat and fibre values of the various foods that you eat in a day (you only need to enter this once.) Use a good calorie counting book or an internet website to obtain the values.

2. Click on the "diet" page. Here, you should enter the number of portions that you ate on a particular day (portion size defined by you on the "Tables" Page.) You cannot enter anything on this page except number of portions.
Scroll left if the name of the foods doesn't appear on the page.

3. Click on the summary page to get your results.

4. Send me a private message if there is anything you would like to know or do not understand.

Enjoy!

If you're trying to cut fat and control your daily calories, this sheet is pretty handy!

Could you tell us the protection password or put up a new version? Cells A4:B7 in "Diet" are not pulling accross from the other table ("Tables"), but are manually written in - and they're protected so I can't change them.

Thanks!

There isn't a password. Just go to the 'tables' page, and click 'tools', 'protection', 'unprotect sheet'.

I hope you don't mind: I made a tweaked version of this excellent idea with the per 100g values used, and then the weight consumed. I find that easier as I can then just write down from the label of the foodstuff the nutritional breakdown (per 100g) and then weigh everything before I eat it. Also added cells for inputting aims if required.

Feel free to store it on this site if you like:

Best wishes.

Nicely done.

Yours will be really useful to the guys who weigh each portion.

I like the way you have a section for calories which don't come from carbs, protein or fat, such as alcohol.

Nicely done.

Yeah, Guys

If anybody can make the spreadsheet a little more user friendly or useful, please do. The whole idea is to get a good working spreadsheet which everybody can use to get complete and easy info about their diet.

There's already one which works on portions (mine, which seriously needs to be made more user friendly) and another very nice one which works on weight. Please feel free to improve on either of them, and post it up. I'll ask Damien to upload and replace the existing one with any better version...
