Default Alright, here goes.

After talking my wife into going to the gym more, I realized I was in no shape to sit at home myself. I haven't really worked out hard since high school when I played football and swimming all summer long (not competitive, but took classes from 5years old until I was 16) I did lift off and on for a few years, but mainly did cardio etc to try and stay active. The past few years have been way to busy for me, and I'm ashamed at what I have become and want to stop it all before it gets worse.

I sit at my desk all day long just about and it shows I guess. My plan is to build muscle and get leaner in the process. I'd like to play flag football a little this fall and join my buddies tackle football league next summer. I've already start looking at the diet plans, recipes here and I will be leaving the office early to stock up on what I'll need for the coming weeks. My wife is all for it and I figure with both of us involved it will be alot easier to stay motivated. I might start out with a beginner plan for a few weeks, then hit Doug's Routine over the coming months and see how it goes.

Give yourself a break dude your not that out of shape.

I also sit behind a desk all day and i know what a pain in the ass that can be. But the beginner routine followed by Dougs 4 day split is a good idea

True to above. You are not that bad. I sit behind a desk too.

One think i do at my desk is stop during the day for a few minutes and do pushups. now i am only 1 of 2 people in our office, so i don't look so dumb to a bunch of people doing pushups. But it helps, and it keeps me motivated.

Doug- That was one of the first things I read through, helped me plan out what I needed as far as meals etc. Just came home with a truckload of food and snacks for the week. Going to GNC to get some stuff just in case I get too busy at work to fit in a snack. I'm usually too glued to my desk, or at another facility working, so getting time to stop eat is not a choice.

Sad, 10 years ago when I was swimming and working as a mechanic all that was lean and trim. I didn;t realize until I took pics and compared to my pics from HS and when I got married. I actually had a six pack. Heck a few weeks ago I got pulled over and the cop gave me a hard time because I looked nothing like my driver's license photo from 1998! WTF, who looks like they did 10 years ago?!

Monday I start hitting it, tomorrow and Sunday I'll just do cardio workouts to to get used to breathing hard again. I'll make sure to post up progress as I go along and make sure I'm doing it all right. Hardest part is going to be the diet, 3 girls to get dressed every morning before driving 2 hours to work. I'll prob have to make meals the night before or put a microwave in my office.

Push-ups I can do, I'd just close the door to my closet......I mean office.

I got three kids like you mate, and can definitely recommend the sorting your food out the night before for the next day.

If for whatever reason I dont do it, I always end up not having time to do it before I start the early turn and end up either not making anything or grabbing some fruit and a couple of muesli bars or whatever and being a grump all day cause I'm hungry.
